Porcelain Veneers

If you have cracked teeth or other imperfections, porcelain veneers may be an excellent option for restoring your beautiful smile. Our veneers are crafted from thin layers of porcelain and can perfectly match your natural teeth. Also, they are extremely durable and add strength to your bite. Veneers are a fast way to fix minor overlaps or gaps as well.

What is the Process of Applying a Porcelain Veneer?

As previously mentioned, veneers are made of thin layers of porcelain that are placed over existing teeth. Before applying the custom-crafted veneers, Dr. Hawkins must sand away a small amount of existing enamel. This is a painless procedure that will create an even surface on which the veneers can be properly applied.

After that, it is essential to create a strong bond between the porcelain and the teeth so that the repair will function correctly and hold up for years to come. Usually, resin is used to connect the teeth to the veneers. The resin will be cured with a special LED dental light.

What are the Benefits of Porcelain Veneers?

We will handcraft the porcelain veneers for each patient’s needs. This brings the best results in terms of appearance and functionality. One of the biggest advantages of veneers is that they do not stain as easily as natural teeth. If you do not have a more extreme case of damage or even tooth loss, veneers are less involved and invasive than other restorative options.

How Do I  Maintain Porcelain Veneers?

It’s not complicated to maintain porcelain veneers because you can treat them like normal teeth. However, we do recommend that you use a non-abrasive toothpaste. If you are someone who grinds your teeth, we may also fit you for a bite guard, so you will not damage your new veneers.

A few days after the procedure, we will ask that you come in for a check-up with Dr. Hawkins. You should continue to come in for your teeth cleaning every six months, so we can examine your veneers and natural teeth, polish them, and screen for any additional dental problems.

If you have minor cosmetic problems that are negatively affecting your smile, you should consider porcelain veneers. At Hawkins Dentistry, we specialize in procedures that improve your smile. If you have any dental concerns, schedule an appointment with us. Dr. Hawkins will thoroughly examine your teeth and discuss all of the options available to you. Porcelain veneers may be best for you!
